First Story - Getting to know me

Dear Readers,

I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Yollis has awarded me my own blog. I earned my blog by demonstrating  hard work and dedication both at home and at school.  Join me on a journey where I will combine "education" and "adventure" to create my own "edventure" on my "Enormous Elevator" ride.

I would like to share with you a little bit about myself.  My name is Ellie, and I am in a family of six.  I have an older brother named Noah, two sisters named Caiti and Ana, and my parents are Jamie and Patty.  My dad is a firefighter and my mom is a chef.  I also have a yellow lab named Charlie.

I like to eat all kinds of foods, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be spinach.  My favorite colors are blue and greenI am friends with everyone.

I love playing soccer, and my coach’s name is Felix.  The positions I mainly play are left or right mid fielder.

I am about to score a goal.

I treasure the outdoors whether I am rock-climbing, hiking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, hanging out at the beach, or out riding my dirt bike with my family and friends.

My sisters and I striking a pose in front of the sunset at Will Rodgers State Beach.

Dirt bike riding in Gorman, CA.

Rock climbing in Joshua Tree.
I like to spend a lot of time in Mammoth and Yosemite.

Me at the top of Mammoth Mountain.

Snowboarding at Canyon Lodge in Mammoth.

My sisters and I hanging out by the Tuolumne River in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite.

My favorite book is Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary. I enjoy math and reading. In conclusion, I admire Mrs. Yollis for giving me this blog.

Sincerely,
♥ᖻEll♥eᖻ♥

Do you want a blog? Why?

If you had a blog what would you name it? Would you want your blog to be alliteration or a rhyme? Why?

Thank you for leaving a wonderful comment. I hope you will leave numerous comments on my blog, friends blogs, and teachers blogs. Maybe you could earn your own blog if you leave even more comments.

I can't wait until my game tomorrow. You can cheer me on, but not every time I touch the ball. This game we will play really hard.

    1. Hello my little Ellie McBoo! ;)

I realized that I never answered your questions. Did you know I have a blog but don't ever do anything with it? The name is PattyCakeCreations1, because my name is Patty, I created things and the number "1" was added because there was already another PattyCakeCreations and I really wanted the blog name. It was not an alliteration or a rhyme, but a play-on-words name. Do you remember when we use to play "patty cake"? Probably not because you were just a toddler and look at you now, all grown up to a big kid who has her own blog! Maybe one day I'll be as dedicated as you and continue my blog on a more consistent level. Hope to see a reply from you soon.

      Love,
      Mama

    2. Dear Mama,

I remember when we played "patty cake". I still remember how it goes. Do you still post on your blog? If you have not done it in a long time maybe it could be about my new blog. Have you ever got comments on it? Did you right it like texting or like how my class and I do it?

      Sincerely,
      ♥Ell♥e♥

  3. Dear Ellie,
Your Dad just called us to let us know you have gotten your own blog. We are so proud of you and all the successes you have had at school, on the playing fields, and on the slopes. Living 3000 miles away from you, we will be so excited to follow your adventures each day online. We are also proud of your positive attitude to try hard at school, while doing sports, and with your family. With that attitude you will be able to accomplish all that you set your mind to. We are VERY, VERY PROUD of you!

I do not know if I am sending this correctly so please let me know when you get it.
Lots of love to you! Nana and Papa

Thanks for leaving a wonderful comment. You did do your comment right, you put it on the blog. Have you ever had a blog?

When I heard I was picked to have a blog, I was like "Yes, I got a blog!" I think that is what the other people felt inside who were awarded a blog as well. If you were picked to have a blog would you say "Yes, I got a blog" or something else? Would you say it out loud or in your head?

      Sincerely,

You may find this hard to believe, but I wouldn't know what to do with my own blog. You are so much more advanced when it comes to computer skills than I am. I had no idea what a computer was when I was in third grade. You are lucky to have a teacher like Mrs. Yollis who teaches you so much about technology. I am very impressed with how proficient you have become on the computer. I am so excited to start reading and commenting on your posts. I am also very excited to see you play soccer. That is another area where you have excelled through hard work and determination. Not only are you an exceptional student, but you are equally exceptional as an athlete. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the reply. It was a really fun one to read.

When I knew about computers I was in preschool, because I always wanted to play on it. I can't wait until you are ready to get a blog. I will help you with the title and subtitle.

I wish my game wasn't canceled today, but at least it was postponed. If it wasn't that would not be good. You are a great athlete too.

I just wanted to tell you what a great job you did in your game this past weekend. Your footwork was amazing! I really love to see you use all the skills that you have practiced. At this point in your soccer career it's more about mastering all those skills than anything else. You demonstrate that you are seeing the "big picture" on the field. You control the ball very well and make excellent passes. Keep up the good work.
I enjoy reading your blog when I'm stuck at work for several days in a row. It makes me feel like I'm still able to be a part of your day. I really miss you and the rest of the family when I'm away. That's the hardest part about my job, being away from you girls. I can't wait to see you play this weekend.

  5. Dear Ellie,

Congratulations on getting your own blog! That is a huge honor. I love your welcome statement, too. You used a lot of great vocabulary words and did an awesome job describing yourself. I'm so proud of you. Is writing a blog hard?

Sorry I haven't gotten to see you since Sam, Gabon, and I got back to Los Angeles... I've been so busy with a new job at a new school and moving back. I hope I can see you and the rest of the family very soon. Good luck in your game tomorrow. I like your advice for your dad. ;)

  6. Dear Bizzy,

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Writing a blog is hard because the part where I wrote about what my blog was going to be about took a hour to figure out. That was only one sentence.

My game got canceled because the fields were flooded. The good news is it got postponed to April 29th. There are also games on the 21st and 28th of April. Can you come to my home game on the 28th?

I love your blog. I really want a blog. If I had a blog I would name it Caiti's California Coast because I like to go to the beach. I wanted my blog name to be alliteration because I like how the Cs' are in a line.

  8. Dear Ellie,

A big congratulations on earning your own blog! I completely adore it!

As you know, I have earned a blog myself, and the title is a rhyme. I think a blog with a rhyming name is a unique blog because most bloggers make their blog name alliteration. I still like alliteration names because some of them are really clever.

My favorite part about blogging is writing quality comments back to every one of the people who comment to me. I hope that Mrs. Yollis' class next year will be great friends with the student bloggers this year, so they can post comments on our blogs too.

    Sincerely,

I think rhymes are really clever too. If I were thinking of a rhyme, and I couldn't figure it out I would go to you.

My favorite color is purple and blue. My hobbies are gymnastics, swimming, spending time with my friends and family,I love music so I have an iPodTouch and an iPad, and I love going to school! My grandmother catches lobster and crab for dinner when we go there. She even has a drawer that has all the utensils for it. We once went fishing in her boat. My dad caught a shark, but it was a smart one. It wrapped the string around a lobster trap and swan away. It was a really fun time.

My mom has a iPad that I play on. I have a iPod too. My favorite song is Moves Like Jagger. What is your favorite song?

Congratulations on your lovely blog! I look forward to leaving numerous comments on it. I am not very sure whether I want a blog or not, but if I had one I would want the title to be alliteration, because I think it would sound much better. I also love to go to Yosemite, but I have never been to Mammoth. It looks really fun! You are very lucky that you have a dirt bike my parents would never let me have one.

Thanks for your wonderful comment. My favorite parts about my blog are all the comments and the picture at the top of it because my mom took the photo on Catalina Island.

Dirt biking is really dangerous. One time when I was on my dirt bike and I fell over and it was still on which meant the back wheel was still moving really fast. Luckily I didn't get hurt and I got back on my dirt bike and rode the rest of the day.

This year after school I am going to climb Half Dome to the summit with my friend and our dads. We are going to do a 20-mile hike and spend two nights in the back-country. (Back-country means deep in the woods far away from a campsite.)

I think that your picture on the top of your blog is spectacular, it is very pretty. Being on a dirt bike must be really fun, but scary at the same time. My dad, dog, and my sisters usually go hiking in the mountains for an hour or two, and we have a beautiful and large A.C Stelle soccer field.

Thanks for the beautiful reply! I used to play a lot of soccer about two times a week. My brother already is picking up basketball, so I am going to have to play with him too. Baseball, my brother is doing right now every Friday, Sunday, and sometimes Monday. At my church, we have something called Awana, and we play a lot of games there. One of the games we played were tug of war, and My team would pretty much not win.

When you play tug of war with your dog, do you win?

I enjoy being outdoors as well. I've been to Mammoth Lakes in the summer and in the winter. In the summer, I have gone hiking and fishing. One time I fished at Lake Crowly and caught my limit of fish in just a few hours!

Mr. Yollis and I like to hike and camp in the eastern Sierra. We have backpacked several time together. Camping is always fun because you get to sleep in a tent and cook your food outside on a fire, just like Badger Claws!

    Which is your favorite hobby?

I love camping and skiing. What I love about skiing is that I could go any where on the mountain and what I love about camping is the fire, and cooking on the fire, too. The only things I don't like about camping is the bug bites, but my dad taught me a trick so it would make it not itch. The trick is to make a "x" on it. The only things I don't like about Mammoth is the blizzards, that are freezing cold. I went there for spring break and there was a blizzard. This summer I am going to Mammoth to camp after we go to Yosemite.

Once I went to Big Bear. It was a lot of fun. I went there with my family and friends. We stayed there for about 3 days. For part of the day we went to the backyard and had a snowball fight. It was every person for themselves.

A couple of days ago we went to see a lake. We could not find the one we were looking for, but on the way we saw a different lake. Right next to the lake were two geese. With the two geese were 5 baby geese!
